Yahi Group Cross Country Ski List. Chico has an active cross-country ski group offering group ski outings and lessons. A website dedicated to cross-country skiing is maintained by the group at sports.groups.yahoo.com/group/chicoxcski/. Local Sierra Club cross-country ski outings are posted on the Calendar there and changes are updated weekly. Additional ski outings may be posted there as are the latest updates on local snow and road conditions. The trail maps of both the McGowan and Colby Meadows XC Ski Areas, information on local ski and rental shops, links to webcams, weather sites and other useful xc ski related information are available in the “Files” and “Links” sections. Sunday, January 12 - Wild Winter Workout. An 8-mile power hike in Upper Bidwell Park. Meet at Horseshoe Lake parking lot (after the rifle range building) at 9 AM with water and stamina for a fast-paced hike taking in the North Rim, B and Yahi trails for great views, conversation, and exercise. Tuesday, January 14, 2014 - Yahi Program Meeting. Neil Wiegman will talk about his and his wife Nancy’s experiences while walking the Camino de Santiago de Compostela both in Spain and France. The Wiegmans have done a number of walks in both countries and have many beautiful photos that they took along the way. Neil has given talks about the Camino to many groups in Chico. The meeting will be held at the Chico Branch Library on the corner of East First Avenue and Sherman at 7 PM with refreshments served. Non Sierra Club members are always welcome.

Sunday, January 26 - Day Hike and Lunch (1A). Hike along the Feather River and enjoy a Chinese lunch! A pleasant 4-5 mile stroll along the paved, scenic Feather River Parkway in Oroville (where Chinese gold miners once panned for gold!), a group lunch at Tong Fong Low’s Chinese Restaurant downtown and a possible visit to the Chinese Temple nearby. Please bring water, comfortable walking shoes, dress in layers, and bring carpool, lunch $. Heavy rain cancels.
