Yahi Group Cross Country Ski List. Chico has an active cross-country ski group offering group ski outings and lessons. A website dedicated to cross-country skiing is maintained by the group at: http://sports.groups.yahoo.com/group/chicoxcski/. Local Sierra Club cross-country ski outings are posted on the Calendar there and changes are updated weekly. Additional ski outings may be posted there as are the latest updates on local snow and road conditions. The trail maps of both the McGowan and Colby Meadows XC Ski Areas, information on local ski and rental shops, links to webcams, weather sites and other useful xc ski related information are available in the "Files" and "Links" sections. Weekly Wild Winter Workouts (grade 1, class A) Every Sunday, 9 AM, meet at Horseshoe Lake parking lot (just before the locked gate) to power hike in Upper Bidwell Park. Most Sundays, leader will lead 11/2 hour (optional 3 hours) hike on North Rim Trail (light rain does not cancel); otherwise hike is self-organized. Bring water and wear appropriate clothing for the day's predicted weather. Call Jeanne, 530-321-7279 for more information.
On-Going Tuesday Volleyball. Join Yahi Group members and friends for friendly, co-ed volleyball every Tuesday night at 7 PM at the Chapman Center (corner of E. 16th Street and B Street in Chico). Volunteer Trail Work in Bidwell Park Volunteers are needed to work on trails or remove invasive plants. Various projects are scheduled almost every week. For more information, call Park volunteer coordinator Lise at 530-896-7831. Wear sturdy, closed-toed shoes and weather-appropriate clothing.

Sunday, January 27 — Day Hike and Lunch (1,A) Hike along the Feather River and enjoy a Chinese lunch! A pleasant 3-4 mile stroll along the paved, scenic Feather River Parkway in Oroville to the old bath house (where Chinese gold miners once panned for gold!), a group lunch at Tong Fong Low's Chinese Restaurant downtown and an optional visit to the Chinese Temple nearby. Please bring water, comfortable walking shoes, dress in layers, and bring carpool, lunch $. Heavy rain cancels. Meet at Chico Park N Ride at 9:30 AM or at trailhead in Oroville (Hwy 70 and end of Montgomery St.) at 10:15 AM. Leader: Alan, 530-891-8789.
