Ongoing Events

Tuesday Volleyball. Join Yahi Group members and friends for friendly, co-ed volleyball every Tuesday night at 7 PM at the Chapman Center (corner of East 16th Street and B Street in Chico). Cost: $3 per night. We are happy to help those with limited volleyball experience. For more information, call Karen, 899-8305 or Betty, 345-7205.

Volunteer Trail Work in Bidwell Park. Volunteers are needed to work on trails or remove invasive plants. Various projects are scheduled almost every week. For more information, call park volunteer coordinator Lise at 896-7831. Wear sturdy, closed-toed shoes and weather-appropriate clothing.

Yahi Group Cross Country Ski List. Chico has an active cross-country ski group offering group ski outings and lessons. A website dedicated to cross-country skiing is maintained by the group at sports.groups.yahoo.com/group/chicoxcski/. Local Sierra Club cross-country ski outings are posted on the Calendar there and changes are updated weekly. Additional ski outings may be posted there as are the latest updates on local snow and road conditions. The trail maps of both the McGowan and Colby Meadows XC Ski Areas, information on local ski and rental shops, links to webcams, weather sites and other useful xc ski related information are available in the “Files” and “Links” sections. Friday, December 6 - Dinner at The House of Bamboo. Join us for a delicious Thai or other authentic Asian dinner. The light dinner should be perfect for getting you ready for some early Christmas shopping. The group should be full of ideas for the gift you just can’t figure out. Meet at 5:45 PM at this East Second street eatery. Call leader, John, (872-8258), reservations can be made with the restaurant.

Sunday, December 8 - Wild Winter Workout. An 8-mile power hike in Upper Bidwell Park. Meet at Horseshoe Lake parking lot (after the rifle range building) at 9 AM with water and stamina for a fast-paced hike taking in the North Rim, B and Yahi trails for great views, conversation and exercise.
