Really Brrrisk Morning Walk (1A). Davis. Meet 7:00 a.m. at Peet's Coffee in the north Davis Market Place off of Covell Blvd. & Sycamore (at Hwy 113). Walking distance is about 4.5 miles in 90 minutes. Return to Peet's at about 8:30 a.m. Everyone is welcome to walk. Rain will cancel. We may see wild turkeys, Guinea fowl, geese, goslings, raptors, jackrabbits, coyotes, and other Davis wildlife. Walk along greenbelts, ponds, fields, ditches, dirt paths, gardens ― and sometimes Village Homes, UCD campus or Arboretum. Backpack (1B). Carson-Iceberg Wilderness. Must have your own backpacking gear and some backpacking experience. The cost to join this backpack is $20, which will be donated to the Sierra Club to help improve environmental issues. Day Hike (2B). Loch Leven Lakes. This is a moderate 7 mile hike with 1,200’ elevation gain. It is one of the Club’s favorite hikes with beautiful mountain scenery and mixed shade and sun. Bring 2 quarts of water. Boots are preferred, but not required. Meet 9:00 a.m. @ Roseville Park & Ride (take Atlantic/Eureka exit and travel straight ahead through traffic light and take left at Shell Station into a lot in front of Brookfield’s Restaurant). Day Hike (3C). Velma Lakes in Desolation Wilderness. This strenuous hike starts with a steep 1,500 foot climb in the first 2 miles before leveling out on a ridge with great views of the surrounding mountains, Emerald Bay, and Lake Tahoe. We’ll pass several small lakes and lunch at Middle Velma Lake. Hike is 12 miles with 2,000 feet of elevation gain. Optional dinner afterward. Limited to 12. Day Hike (3B). Point Reyes - Mt. Wittenberg to Arch Rock. Come with us for a very nice, but harder Point Reyes hike with great views of Drake’s Bay. The hike is 11 miles with 1,300’ elevation gain. Day Hike (2B). Mt. Judah. This moderately-strenuous hike provides great views of the mountains just west of Lake Tahoe. The climb involves rocky terrain in some places. 6 miles, 1,500 feet elevation gain to a peak height of 8,200 feet. Not limited to singles. Rain cancels. Optional dinner afterward.
