Hike (1A) Avery Pond, Mormon Ravine (Senior Section)*
We’ll hike from Rattlesnake Bar trailhead to Avery Pond and a little past Mormon Ravine on the trail paralleling the American River. We’ll stop to see if we can spot the turtles in the pond and then continue upstream on fairly level trail along the river, returning to Avery Pond for lunch. Bring lunch, water, essen- tials and $ for state parking fee. Rain cancels. Hike (1A) Sugar Pine Reservoir
Enjoy a pleasant stroll of approx 4 – 5 miles around Sugar Pine Reservoir. Hike offers many nice views of the lake from various angles. Have lunch, water, and $$ for Forest Service parking fee. Snowshoe Hike (1A) (Senior Section)*
We’ll snowshoe either at China Wall, past Foresthill, or somewhere along the I-80 corridor, depending on snow conditions. Bring $ for Snow Park pass, if required, at site chosen. Bring essentials, snowshoes, poles, lunch, water and dress in layers. Meet at 9:30 a.m. at Burger King on Lincoln Way in Auburn at Foresthill Exit off I-80. No dogs. Day Hike (1A) PG&E Trail (Senior Section)*
This approximately four-mile one-way hike down the canyon offers many unique views of both past and current quarrying operations along the Middle Fork American River. There are also several nice views up the Middle Fork American River. Bring lunch, water and essentials. Meet at the Quarry Parking Lot (State parking fee or pass required) on the left off Hwy 49 just past the Hwy 49 bridge below Auburn at 9:30 am.
