Day hike to Lola Montez LakeA gorgeous Sierra day hike to a lake named for one of the more colorful characters of Gold Rush history (ever heard the phrase "Whatever Lola wants, Lola gets"?) provided scenic vistas, alpine meadows and a cooling splash.
Interesting history of Lola Montez: http://www.zpub.com/sf/history/lola.html |

We hiked along the North Fork American River from Yankee Jim's Bridge, upstream to Indian Creek. The hike seemed to be going along at a surprisingly rapid pace... well, not so surprising since we were hiking with a running group! Frontrunners is a large friendly group of active GLBT folks. Information about their weekly runs/walks can be found at http://www.frsac.org/ |
