We
hike in on the Italian Bar Trail 2.3 miles with 3000 feet of elevation loss.
This is a steep toe jamming trail. At the bottom we tour the Italian Bar mining
site, inflate our mattress and eat a snack

From here we have 2 days to cover 4 miles of
canyon bottom. We start with a hike through a very nice gorge then we begin
looking for our campsite on left side of the river.
